pregnancy massageDevelop and enhance your pregnancy massage skills in this learner friendly course.  Explore techniques specifically developed to enhance pregnant and postpartum women’s comfort, health and enjoyment.  Practice and receive personalized feedback regarding techniques modified for emotional, structural, and physiological challenges of the childbearing year. The focus will be on relieving common pregnancy pain and dysfunctions; alleviating musculoskeletal strain and pain; recognizing potential benefits as well as contraindications and precautions; and providing nurturing support and stress reduction.  The postpartum focus will include rebalancing postural and movement patterns; reducing the musculoskeletal strain of mothering tasks; and improving recovery after the birthing process.  In this experiential class, working in pairs, there will be an opportunity to experience giving and receiving pregnancy massage. 

Participants may be massage therapists, massage therapy students, MDs, RNs and/or Doulas.

Bring: set of sheets, 5 pillows (or Body Support System), paper and writing utensil.
